Deadly Inferno Graphic Novel by Abnett/Vansant/Verma
A fabulous book, published by the military history publishers Osprey. Large format (A4 size) this is a graphic novel of the story of the Battle of the Wilderness (1864) in the American Civil War. The Battle of the Wilderness took place towards the end of the American Civil War. The Union Army was now led by Ulysses S. Grant who had won famous victories for the North in Tenessee. In Virginia the Confederate Army led by Robert E. Lee had been a tougher nut to crack. The battle took place at the behest of Lee, who attacked the Northern force which was twice the size of his, before Grant could establish a favorable battleground. The outcome of the battle would show the North whether the War could finally be driven to its conclusion... or drag on as it had. Accompanied by pages of historical background, photos of key figures, campaign maps etc. this is an incredible educational resource. It's so much more than just a "comic," it provides an accesible version of history in an easy to understand, easy to follow way, alongside more in depth and educational material that provides the extra material young readers and students will be looking for. It educates as it entertains. The people behind the book have experience with D.C. Comics, 2000AD, Dark Horse and other famous comic publishers.
